How do I get the mobile app to stop scrolling in a busy channel?

The desktop app does not have this behavior, but the iOS and Android apps scroll like they're on fire in these busy channels. It sometimes feels like a scroll/reading gaming we're forced to play.

Unless I'm at the first unread post, any attempt at reading through posts is impossible in a busy channel, because the moment someone posts something, the post I'm currently reading scrolls up or down. Either way, I can't tell unless I swipe up or down to re-find the post I was reading, which can take minutes where more posts are still changing my view as the app scrolls based on activity. This feature renders the mobile app quite useless for busy channels. 

And interacting with Bots in these channels... forget it. 99% chance of hitting the wrong button as it's wisked away.

Is there a way to turn this feature off or are we stuck with it? I can see by the help requests around this topic that it has been going on for at least 6 years. So, maybe you know about it and don't plan on repairing the problem. I should throw up my hands and give up, but it is still very important. 

In the mean time, I'll delete the app and check back later.
