Do NOT change the current username system

Did anyone thinking of this change ever considering the following:

 

It'll be just as easy to impersonate people

Name sniping is going to be absolutely awful to deal with(and rolling out the names to the oldest accounts first won't fix this)

Targeted harassment is going to be even easier now than before, especially over very petty things, someone took the name you wanted, you know exactly what to search to find their profile.

Hacked accounts will become more common due to people finding certain users easier, and we all already know how bad the hacked accounts issue is right now.

 

If it isn't broke don't fix it, stop making useless changes that nobody was asking for

OR IF YOU WANNA MAKE AN ACTUALLY MEANINGFUL CHANGE:
Swap to a hex string instead of a 4 digit number, keep the display name, and make it not case sensitive.

    I also DO NOT WISH TO BE FOUND by ex-friends who know what handles I like to use, so I am going to be forced to either use a name that I don't identify with, or add numbers anyway. 

    The new system is not better.
