New name system is a cringe and why is this so
I understand that discord developers are quite "disconnected" from the discord community itself, but I am still genuinely perplexed by such a persistent desire to carry out fundamental (and obviously extremely controversial) changes in the application community that will affect each participant... And at the same time, without asking users at all if they really need it.
A lot of questions are raised not only by the reason for removing the numeric discriminator, but also by the motives of the product developers themselves to make such decisions.
It seems that the developers conducted surveys (or data collection) among the most rigid and non-integrated users in the application, and based on the results they decided to "squeeze out" the decision to remove the discord tag as such. No one even thought about the fact that extrapolating a naming system from Twitter is likely to have an extremely negative effect on both the community and the attitude to discord as such.
You don't need to be a genius to understand all the amenities of the discord tag system. All of us familiar with #0000 allow us to have unique nicknames-identifiers, despite the many users with similar user data. It seems to me that the true reasons for planting an obviously controversial idea of tags from Twitter lies behind something other than the reasons described. All the arguments that I saw in the news post are extremely weak, and are broken down simply by evidence-based argumentation. The example given in the news deserves special attention:
"You want to use a common name like “Mike” or “Jane” but there are already 9,999 Mikes or Janes so you're blocked from that name altogether."
So, now 9,999 Mikes and Janes have to choose completely kringe twitter-like names for themselves, something from the category "Mark-penetrator3000", because Mark (in a singular form) was busy.
I don't want to see discord like this, I obviously won't support this program with my money, and with great pleasure I will cancel my discord-nitro subscription as soon as this update is released

The lack of simple names available like Mike or Jane is probably Discord's most valid argument on the change, but I don't understand how does limiting a username to only 1 person instead of 9999 people make anything better? They're completely ignoring the fact that usernames are case sensitive and changing atleast one letter of a name to lowercase or uppercase and/or adding something as simple as a _ to your name can raise the possible usernames to over 39,996 (and I swear there isn't that many people demanding the name Mike on the platform). And after the change there would only be 1 @mike and one @jane, so their "fix" kind of turned into a bigger issue. Something as simple as just adding a 5th digit to the discriminator would be more than enough to fix the issue. The rest of the arguments seem kinda pointless and feel like they're just there to fill up the page. I hope they consider the clear backlash from the community (even though that's not very likely).
