Username change is actually harmful
The announced username changes are actively harmful and an absolutely stupid change. It will only lead to more impersonation and literally do nothing else. The way you're doing the rollout is also complete garbage. Here are a few reasons:
1. Did you NOT just see the impersonation issues Twitter had? People will use the Display Name to impersonate people and if you can't see the @ at all times (which is also a terrible idea in general) people WILL fall for it.
2. This first come first serve method is garbage for content creators that joined Discord late. Lets take someone massive like Markiplier. There is literally nothing stopping someone that joined before him (or with Discord Nitro) from swiping "@Markiplier" from him. What are you going to do then? Steal that person's username from them? That opens the problem of "well if you happen to have a similar name to a content creator, they will steal your chosen username for them".
3. Some people DO NOT WANT TO BE FOUND. Your platform is full of scam bots stealing accounts and harassment groups that actively attack people for things like orientation, gender, race, etc.
4. The biggest reason of all: The issue you say this solves is literally not something you need to be trying to solve. You are treating the discriminator number as if its required for a bunch of real-life stuff like a phone number or Social Security number when you say 40% don't remember their number. We don't NEED to memorize the number. You literally just need to click your own profile to see it. It's literally user error if they don't have ANY other way to get that number to the person they want to add later. It is a blatant example of punishing the entire userbase for a minority of users.
Do not push this change. The fact I've not seen any word about this in-app when it will effect literally every single user gives the air of trying to slip this past everyone until it's too late.

Popping in now that this is rolling out to say that your example using Markiplier actually just happened. This update is the worst
