Missing messages in inbox

i get notifications like everyone else the doo-doo sound and i check for messages, but lately when i go check inbox for messages from a server i don't see everything, but when i close the inbox or click away i get a brief and very quick look at messages that i was supposed to get instead of going through every server I'm apart of. i get messages but not all of them is what im saying.
