Role Name Sequences

So we all know that rainbow roles are banned due to the number of times the API is getting called but what if you could set the role color as an array of jsons with hex codes and frames (maybe a variable you could set of how many frames would be in a second).

Way this could be done:

Gifs:
Discord could change the color changing roles to gifs. The problem with this is the performance in the backend from creating the gifs and client side performance of loading the gifs.

Videos:
Discord could change the color changing roles to videos. The problem with this is the performance in the backend from creating the videos, client side performance of loading the video(way less of a problem than gifs), and depending on the browser's engine the background color could not match.

Color Changing Text:
Discord could use for example a setTimeout to change the color. I think this would be the best solution, but client side performance will be affected by this.

Like the idea? Do you know any better ways Discord could do this?
