No sound from mic despite windows picking it up

My mic is visible on discord, but has no output. on the windows systems sounds it shows it picking up sound but not on discord. I've been using the same mic for months without problems and after the latest update, this happens somehow.

  Seen this on another thread and it works:

  "you have to go to voice settings and change from standard to experimental. done :D"
