Discord should not have control over how my Mic sounds

Dude I'm so glad someone else noticed this! I was so pissed with this recent Discord update because it makes my microphone sound like it's aggressively trying to cancel all the bleeding sound from my headphones and it essentially makes my mic volume oscillate in a very noticeable way!!! I have all the features off as well and still no luck. It's got to be Discord doing this "for us". Please fix!

Lmao, glad I found people who agree. It sounds like echo cancellation is taking affect even though I have it off. So annoying.

Having the same issue, complete silence from Discord devs. Ridiculous.

Has anyone found the solution for this problem? Because I have this bad mic quality issue for over 2 weeks now.

I haven't used my PC a lot during summer and I haven't played any games at all and so I haven't used Discord for a few month.
Now I started Discord and called a friend - he said it sounds weird and kind of cut off after each word/sentence.
When I check the mic in Voicemeter everything is perfect.
When I check the mic in Discord it sounds so bad!
I turned off all of the options that should improve quality / remove background noise.
I use Nvidia Broadcast, so no need for all those options. Also tested everything without software between my mic and Discord. Even with direct input from my mic to Discord the issue persists.

Please Discord - I know you care a lot about your customers, so please find a solution.

Waooo How great that we get to break the silence, I am having the same issue, imagine having a Shure SM7B microphone ($400) a GoXLR($500) and my voice in discord sounds horrible, it’s sad

This won't solve everybody's issue, but I found out that the "MIC Test" under "Voice and Video"-Settings is completely broken. Don't use it at all.
If you want to test your mic go to a server or create a new one for testing purpose.
Download the Craig-Bot for Discord (https://craig.chat/home/).
Go to a voice channel and activate Craig with the following command
    :craig:, join
Now you can record everything in the channel and you'll hear how you sound to other people.
In my case I had to fine tune a few things, but now everything is okay again.

Let me know if this helped or not.

Guys. This seemed have helped a bit. Enable Streamer Mode and then disable "Automatically Enable/Disable" small print underneath reads "Automatically enable/disable Streamer Mode  IF OBS or XSplit are running on this computer. That should clear it up a bit, but it still doesn't sound great...
