Feature Overview

An API option that enabled large embed content collapsing, and introduced an *Expand* button at the bottom.

Problem

Embeds that contain large (1024-2048 char) descriptions, or many fields, tend to get pretty big. That results in a massive chat flooding problem. Following this, I thought it'd be a great idea if Discord added a feature to be able to collapse the content by default and expand it on demand.

How could this be implemented

Not all developers and users would like all embeds to be collapsed and have to click the Expand button each time. Hence, this feature could be included as an additional option inside the embed objects. A property such as 'collapseContent', type of boolean, would make this feature unintrusive for anybody, but still very useful for all developers.

But how would it look on the client-side?

Discord has recently added file previews, which, if too large, collapse and add an "Expand" button:

Now, with this feature, embed description and fields, would behave in a similar fashion - but only if the option is chosen to be True while sending/editing the message, as otherwise, it would be more annoying than useful.

Summary

I'd love to see this feature being added, to reduce the problem of chat flooding wherever possible. It would also help developers insert large amounts of data into embeds without worrying about making the embeds big and clunky.

  There should be a way to autoslipt embeds to pieces if wished or to use your library where well it can probably autopaginate for you.

  That would be incredible, I would love to be able to see higher in a chat then lengthy embeds, and it's annoying when my own bot floods chat
