Regarding the current reveal of Discord pushing their AI Bot onto servers without the server owner's or the server members' consent
I've been seeing people mentioning that Discord has been putting their AI bot Clyde on servers without the server owner's consent, and this is deeply unsettling for me. I do not want an AI bot on my server or any servers I am in, and I do not want an AI Bot learning from me or any of my messages. So I'm just going to say this:
I do not consent to having any AI Bots joining my servers or the servers I'm in, and I do not consent to any AI Bots learning from any of my data or having access to it OR saving/collecting/harvesting it in any way.
Not only is this most likely a violation of data privacy in the EULA and opening Discord up to severe lawsuits, this is an invasion of privacy and there's probably laws this violates in the US considering the lack of consent. This is opening Discord up to lawsuits from content creators like writers and authors if the bots learn from any writing they've posted on Discord without their consent, and you can definitely bet that there's some law somewhere that allows an average user to sue the hell out of Discord for this invasion of privacy.
Needless to say, if Discord goes through with putting their AI Bots on servers and having them learn from users in those servers without their consent, I will be:
1. Looking for a new chat platform to move to that will protect my privacy and not use it to feed or train AI Bots
2. Sue the hell out of Discord if the AI Bot learns from or harvests/saves/collects ANY of my data. And I won't be the only person on Discord that will threaten to sue.
I am begging you Discord to smarten up and not force this AI Bot onto servers, and instead let people choose whether or not they want to let the AI Bot into their servers. Otherwise, I will be seeking legal council.
Update: Apparently Discord has made the bot unable to be banned, so not only are they adding bots to servers without consent and toggling them on automatically, they're making it so the bot cannot be removed.
Again, I urge Discord to reconsider this and remove the AI bot from all servers and make it so someone has to toggle a switch to allow the bot in with consent. The EULA will sue over this blatant invasion of privacy rights, and I'm willing to bet a lot of people that use Discord will sue as well.
I want an option in both user setting and server settings that not only bans the bot from all of my servers, but also blocks the bot from reading any of my data, and an option to have the bot delete all data it might have already collected from me permanently so my data can't be used in any way.
Update: Also, ever since you started rolling out the bot to servers without consent, my Discord has been crashing and becoming more unusable. There's already another app like Discord out there with discriminators and no AI bots forced onto servers, so unless you want to end up losing users to a more privacy-friendly app, I highly suggest you remove this AI bot from all servers and make it an opt-in option for people to choose whether or not they consent to having the bot in their server.

seconding this. its absolutely insane that i, as the server owner, cant disable this

Cancelling my nitro resub. Unfortunate.
Seems like “just being the best chat app” is not sustainably profitable enough, we have to also be data harvested to exist on the internet.Fall of skype all over again.

it's WILD that you think you can add bots and AI into people's servers without their consent and then make the bots extremely annoying to get rid of. it should be opt out by default, not opt in. people don't want annoying bots on their personal servers that they use to just chat with their friends and share photos, and we certainly don't want data being collected by an additional bot added in without consent on top of the data you yourselves already have access to by virtue of us simply having accounts. this is riduculous.

This wholeheartedly. Much like any kind of change when it comes to risk on privacy and safety, this should only ever be an Opt In, not an “I have to go through all these guides and jump through hoops to get rid of this thing” Opt out.

I also do not consent to having any AI Bots joining my servers or the servers I'm in, and I do not consent to any AI Bots learning from any of my data or having access to it OR saving/collecting/harvesting it in any way. It shouldn't have to be said but apparently it does!
Hey discord, how about fix your connectivity issues on mobile first anyway?
And I just don't understand WHY this is happening. What's the motive, here?

Hard agree with all of this. I do not want Clyde in any of my servers. At bare minimum, I want the ability to remove Clyde from any server in which I am an admin or a mod. I want the ability to prevent my data from being harvested by Clyde in any servers it may wind up in. I would love the ability to block Clyde and prevent it from ever interacting with my account in any way, shape, or form.

If i wanted a bot in my server, I would invite it in myself. Forcibly adding a bot to the server without consent is not only a stupid thing to do, but it's inconsistent with how basically every other bot works. Bots have always been something you had to consent to, as they should be, ESPECIALLY for something many people (myself included) consider to be morally and ethically wrong! Like Discord fr saw the debate and backlash and distrust of openai and similar projects/companies and thought “lets add that :)".
