Server Nickname
Yesterday with the mobile app on my phone, I ran into a problem with a server I'm a member of. I tried to change my nickname in my server profile, and Discord wouldn't save the change. Instead, after tapping Save and then tapping the back button, Discord would ask if I wanted to discard the new changes I made or keep editing. I was confused because I thought the nickname was fine (it wasn't inappropriate whatsoever) and I had saved it. I then figured it was an issue with the server where it doesn't allow anyone to change their nickname.
Before asking the server owner about it, I checked the Discord application on my Macbook. I attempted the same process with Discord on that device, and that's when I noticed: after entering a certain number of characters, the text box wouldn't let me add anything else; I was still able to change my server nickname, however I had to condense it. I then realized there's a character limit for how long a nickname can be, which I wasn't made aware of with the mobile app on my phone.
Also, on the mobile app, I was able to add as many characters as I wanted and then hit Save. Clearly the length of my nickname was an issue, but Discord didn't notify me about it. All it gave me was the response I mentioned above, without identifying why the name couldn't be saved.
The suggestion I have is: can we add a message that shows the max number of characters allowed for nicknames? I think it should be placed directly under the text box for ‘Server Nickname’ and it should tell users how many characters they've already used out of the max amount.
