Layout as a disabled person.
Hi,
I wasn’t sure what category to put this complaint in. I’m someone who has been using the mobile app since 2017 and I absolutely adore some updates but the newest one is far too hard to navigate. I’m registered blind and am struggling deeply with the complete change in layout, and because of this, I struggle using the desktop version, that’s why I’ve always chosen the mobile app over the desktop version.
Long story short, is there any way to change it the layout back to what it was? Like make it optional? As I’m really struggling to navigate this app which I use ALL THE TIME!!!

I'm not blind but still visually impaired, and this update really does feel deliberately hostile to people like us, especially given how Discord has seemingly chosen to dig their heels in and die on this hill. I'm all for having more default themes available, but removing the original dark mode entirely and completely changing the layout into the nonsensical garbage it is now just baffles me. Even fully abled people are struggling to navigate the app now, it's such a mess. These changes made the app “better” for literally nobody and are disproportionately hurting disabled and/or visually impaired users. It's really disappointing to be treated this way by a platform I've been supporting for almost its entire lifetime, and I hope Discord chooses to, at the very least, revert the most hostile changes.

Heads up, I just submitted a lengthy comment detailing instructions on how to go back to a previous version of Discord, and it says “pending approval” so I'm worried that no one will get to see it if someone decides it shouldn't be posted. I just wanted to say, there is a way to go back, I know how to do it, I submitted instructions and I just hope it will be posted.

I have issues with my hands and vision. This update feels like they didn't even consider how it could affect people. I am also neurodivergent and the new update is causing me physical and mental distress. I've resulted into mostly using the PC and Web versions of the app.
No one wanted this update. It is downright HOSTILE to many people.

this. this this this. I'm not visually impaired, but I'm disabled in my hands and I have memory issues. navigating the new layout with all the extra movements and clicks it needs now is already hell on my hands, and the new dms have guaranteed ill completely miss everything anyone says to me since they disappear on server view and unread ones no longer show on top. discord really just didn't consider disabled users at all.
