Forced Discord Mobile UI

When this UI change was first being tested, I was one of the unlucky few it got thrust upon. I changed it back right away because looking at it--no matter if it was in “dark” or “midnight” mode--caused me severe migraines which often lead to nausea for me. The fact that the UI is now being forced onto everyone on mobile is absolutely disgusting.

 

I have turned off auto updates on my app to hopefully escape this horrific change that will make the UI unusable for me. If this is forced on me despite having my auto-updates turned off, as has happened to other people I know, I will be looking for something to replace Discord for all my game nights and chatting needs.

 

Wanting a new UI is fine. Forcing it on everyone without an option to go back to the tried-and-true easy to use one is pathetic. I will be encouraging those I know that have Nitro to cancel it given Discord's response to this is “suck it up and get over it” which is not a good company policy to have. I am glad I never gave you my money despite considering it to help the company. After this disaster you don't deserve a single penny.

 

Be better. Or your competition will do it for you.

    Agreed agreed agreed!! 100%! I wish I had my auto updates off. It makes me beyond mad to know that they had it as a toggle before- what is the reason to get rid of that? They are capable of having it, yet decided not to? They want to be like social media so bad, but even some of those include toggle between new/old themes (such as tumblr and reddit, afaik.) Utterly ridiculous. Nobody likes this.

    I just went ahead and downloaded an older version… I just can't deal with this UI. And it's not like I can't adjust to change. I've been on the internet for decades at this point. Happens all the time. But this time? Nope. This is not easier to use. Not in the slightest.

    Agreed. I know that people often struggle with design changes, but this isn't just unrest over change, this is outright more difficult and looks like the social medias I abandoned because of poor design. It makes me not want to use it at all. There's so much extra legwork involved in accessing simple features that Discord is made for. Why even do this?
