Is anybody listening??? Fix this auto-scroll issue or provide a feature to disable it. You are SERIOUSLY irking your users. Not hard to do, if you really cared what your users think about your app. High volume channels are practically impossible to read the history. Looking back in this forum, this request has been our there for a looooong time. So, what's up? You too busy adding features nobody uses or cares about.

Why is there no feedback on this? I have come from Telegram, and find that app waaaay easier to use. It's super easy to scan messages, know how many messages you haven't read, and you have complete control if you are going to read new messages, or catch up.
But in discord, I can't scan messages at all, everything looks the same. And when I start reading unread messages, I am forced to the bottom and lose where I was at. I hate when applications decide what's best for me, rather than me being able to decide. So take a challenge from your competitor Telegram, and make a more user friendly experience in reading messages. Reading messages is the most fundamental part of the app!!!! Why wouldn't you want to make this perfect??

They made it worst to point of if you open up an Image or Video it sends you straight down to the recent message just sent losing the spot every time

This post is the top hit when Googling about how to turn it off. Disappointing to see it's been a problem for years with no response from Discord.

Same here. Incredibly frustrating. I'm brand new to Discord as of today and I'm already disappointed because of this issue. Android.

I'm seeing people having this issue with Android I have it with iOS. When I try to watch a video just from the chat screen without going full size, if anybody comments it immediately stops the video and pulls me down to the last comment it's so frustrating

Seems the workaround for this is to mark the last message you read as ‘unread’. Pain having to do this with each server/channel but will try this for now and see how it goes

On iOS it still autoscrolls to new messages automatically. I cannot read older messages or scroll up to catch up on a thread, because it keeps yanking me back down. I've confirmed with support that this is the way it's meant to work and there's no option to disable it. The iOS version is completely unusable for me due to this.
It would be like being in the middle of reading a tweet and being pulled to a new tweet suddenly. Now imagine if that person tweeted every 5 seconds. That's what it's like when I'm on a busy Discord with messages every few seconds; I can't scroll up at all.
I love the desktop version, but this one issue makes the iOS version completely unusable for me, and it will continue to have 1 star from me until fixed. Fix it and the app is 5 stars for me.1 -
The feature and turning it on/off is a necessity. It is true that for most people that use discord while playing (its main use) auto scroll to bottom is a necessity, but for those of us that just chat with people, we need to be able to start from where we left off, or return back when we missed something and not be slammed back at the bottom after every phone lock/unlock.

Still no answer to the annoying "auto scroll to bottom" Sure would be great to have this as an option, one of the most frustrating aspects of using discord. Constantly scrolling up to find my place, ANNOYING! PLEASE LISTEN TO 6 YEARS OF FEEDBACK AND GIVE US AN OPTION!

I think they won't do it because it is harder on the databases to load older messages (not in the hot cache)
