Shadow Kicking or Mod Review Mode

Sometimes a user violates a minor rule in your server or is otherwise doing something worthy of moderation. In that case you might want to take away their ability to post without changing their roles, changing their specific permissions, or kicking them from the server. In such instances, I think two other options would be interesting and useful for moderation: - **Shadow Kicking** — The user can post messages and those messages appear to be going through, but in actuality they aren't. Alternatively, the messages could appear red as though there's a connection issue. - **Review Mode** — The user's messages do go through, but are only able to be seen by "moderators," whatever form that takes, and the user who sent them. Both parties would see the message appear in a different color, e.g., blurple. In the moderators case it would appear similarly to a mention and they'd get the option to approve or reject the message from going through. In the former case, the sending user would see the message turn from blurple to the normal message color. In the latter case, the sending user would see the message turn red. (Relying solely on color isn't a good idea, so some other form of indication would be good too.) In each case, there should be an option to have this mode remain on for some duration of time, or until a moderator allows it to be removed. (Or a combination of the two.) Likewise, moderators at least should be able to see whether a user is under one of these modes just by glancing at their name in the member list or in chat, just like you can tell a bot is a bot by looking at the "BOT" tag next to it.

This concept could be useful for channels that admins want monitored, so admins and mods can approve messages before they are "live" in a specific channel. This feature does not necessarily need to be a bad thing.

I like the Review Mode suggestion. It would be similar to muting someone, but on a different level.

I was thinking of a similar suggestion. When users block people from DM'ing them, rather than telling them they were potentially blocked, it should look like the message either went through or failed to send. I blocked one user and when he ran into me in a Discord server, he had a meltdown.

This definitely has potential. Why limit it to a special user mode though? I think restrictions like this could also be useful as a general feature that could be used, for instance, by the verification levels that are supposed to prevent automated users from abusing public discords. One of the biggest reasons I've seen for people not using verification levels on a server is not wanting to be overly restrictive on new users, so if there was a toggle below the chosen verification level that would allow new user to participate, e.g., without an email address at the double-table-flip level, but everything has to be approved by chat moderators, I would expect a lot more usage of that level.
