discord isn't going to do this; we wanted an option to hide the gif and gift buttons in the chat for months now because they're just clutter and bloat, yet we've heard nothing but a "yeah sure" a long time ago.

i never intend to stream, i have no interest in streaming, i do not care about anything in discord other than the chat system and discord has just been jamming more and more bloat in that i will never ever use; the least they can do is give me the option to hide these features.

i just want these little things discord; slow down with all the feature cramming and actually make the part of the program that everyone uses better instead on focusing on projects and ideas that are going to fail in a few months. remember the games store? nobody asked for it, nobody had any interest in it when it launched, nobody cared about it, and it failed. remember the gif button? nobody had asked for it, yet it's there for you to accidentally misclick or for a troll to spam the chat with.

for gods sake discord; focus on what matters rather than branching out to become the next steam, twitch, or whatever online platform you're going to copy next; you're a chat program, and you need to focus on improving that aspect more than anything.

Please let us disable this rubbish, I don't want to stream and I don't want to be spammed saying Discord is ready to let me.

I dislike this feature, because i dont want information about stuff i dont use in the first place.

make it optional and im cool with it, did not imagine discord would take this route.

Please, add an option to disable the ''Read to Go Live'' button.

I found the solution, I uninstalled discord again.

All the garbage all ways popping up on my screen is too much. I can't find any way to stop it from popping up  a message every time I open a game now.  It was already a huge annoyance to have to disable notifications and mentions on every server I connect to for a feature I never use.

Disable the NOTIFICATION, we still want to use the Go Live! feature.

You may want to use it, but many of us do not, and discord should not be looking at anything we have running just because it wants to. Afaik, every person complaining has asked for a way to disable it, not telling discord to completely remove it.

We need a way to disable it, not just the notification. And if we do want to use it, we could just enable it.

That is the compromise here, a way to disable the feature entirely until we want to enable it.

Bruh, it's been literally more than 5 months already and these lazy ass workers don't do shit, at all, support doesn't work, suggestions doesn't work, I'm starting to lose my faith on Discord, better consider going back to Skype lol

Um, So I found a temporary fix for anyone extremely bothered by the in game popup to go live. Mine was glitching and wasn't going away after a delayed time. I have to use the PTR build of Discord, but it should work in both. I was able to completely disable the popup in games only by disabling the in game overlay. For anyone who doesn't know that's in User Settings > Overlay > Enable in-game overlay. (top left side of the section)

I know it's not a fix fix, but it may help with some frustration with the popup for now.

+1, please let us disable the notification on game launch.

this is most annoying thing in whole app.

Please, let us at least stop the damn popup.

Everything about streaming should be optional imo, and not clutter your screen if youre not a streamer.

Even disabling the function on server level does not get rid of this totally utterly completely annoying and useless popup

How is this even still a thing? Why is it we're still having to ask to remove annoying crap we never asked for and do not want?

Uninstalling the client seems to be the only way to get rid of this "feature" - so be it.

Yep. I uninstalled the client and am now using the web based version. This was basically the last straw for me with the client messing things up. (No I do not want stupid popups constantly, no I do not want overlays to be on by default for every game, no I do not want you to re-enable overlays constantly whenever a game updates, etc, etc, etc)

Ok guys. Disabling in-game overlay fixed it for me :)

I was rly annoyed by this too, but noticed a thing in user settings/game activity

To the right side in the top(next to your "game running" thing) there is a picture of a screen that you can turn off the overlay

It wasn´t obvious that it is a button since it is just the same color as the text next to it and also no borders ot shadow giving the "pushable" feeling, but click it and there and it will turn it off

It is very weird that there is nothing at all giving any kind of info about how to use it and a bit bad UX due to it and should also ask if u want to turn it off automatically when u start a game :)

That has to be turned off for each individual game, and will remove the overlay itself. Not quite the option being asked for.

yeh noticed, I was tired and quick to answer, I thought it was bout that overl(a)y irritating popup :)

It is about that overly annoying popup, but more generally it is about Discord introducing intrusive features that only a (very) small amount of users use without having the ability to turn it off. And this is happening over and over again.

I know nowadays people are being forced to get used to flashy popups, warnings, more popups, 'helpful hints' everywhere, but for a fairly large subset of people those are just incredibly annoying, distracting and in some cases rage inducing.

But yes, please just an option to turn off this sort of nonsense. Any of this sort of nonsense really. How hard can it be to have an option to "Turn off popups" :P

  • Oddbod

So a year later I'm guessing this still isn't an option?

    0
  • Orno

Nope. Discord dev's still do not give a crap about invasion of privacy or forcing unwanted "features" on the masses.

  • misken

I agree with the "helpful" popups, there should be an option to turn _all_ off them off

Mostpart of users nowadays have the computer experience and having totally useless popups flashing over everything you do is very annoying, especially if you are watching a movie: POPUP, if you are playing an important match in a game: POPUP, if you are in a job interview through skype: POPUP

And most of these popups are very much unwanted these days like "Flash flash flash! this is how you check your e-mails and that´s why you died ingame" :)

I just turned off the overlay for the specific game I play, so at least I don´t have to see the popups at all during gaming atm
