Allow (NOT Require) Use of One's Email as Username
It is a best practice in some cases to use one's email as a username. Some prominent systems (Microsoft and Google for example) require this. But it is impossible in Discord with the current username restrictions.
There are (highly down-voted) threads for both allowing special characters, and allowing longer usernames. So an implementation that avoids this may be warranted. For example, special characters or long names could still be blocked, except when the username exactly matches the verified email. Or there could be an option on account creation to use one's email as the username, etc.

That would invade people’s privacy since some people do not wish to show their emails to other people and can lead to many problems such as unwanted emails etc 1 -
i mean it's kind of their decision if they would want their email as their username. they can always change it if they start getting emails. it's entirely their decision.

There appears to be misunderstanding here... This is NOT about requiring anyone to use their email. It is about allowing it to happen. Currently it is not possible. What reason would anyone have for telling the rest of us that we should not be allowed to do this?
