WHY IS DISCORD ASKING FOR MY BIRTHDAY?

Discord's Terms of Service requires people to be over a minimum age to access our app or website, so we are introducing a system to verify that users satisfy that minimum age requirement. We do this to keep our users safe and ensure they don't encounter material that's not appropriate for them.  

For all countries not listed below, 13 is the minimum age to access our app or website.

Asia

  • South Korea: 14+
  • Vietnam: 15+

Caribbean

  • Aruba: 16+
  • Caribbean Netherlands: 16+
  • Curaçao: 16+
  • Sint Maarten: 16+

Europe

  • Austria: 14+
  • Bulgaria: 14+
  • Croatia: 16+
  • Cyprus: 14+
  • Czech Republic: 15+
  • France: 15+
  • Germany: 16+
  • Greece: 15+
  • Hungary: 16+
  • Ireland: 16+
  • Italy: 14+
  • Lithuania: 14+

    I'm not sure if discord has the power to do this, and yes I have seen a similar comment to mines, but what if they made a kids version? Filter out all the messages? Parents app so they can see what their child is doing? It would be better for kids to be actually able to chat to their friends. There's not much chatting apps that I know of is under 13, so I think it will be a cool idea. Opinions?

    quack Discord Is very Immature with Scammers and pedo Sending Illegal DM some servers Need to be Banned Kids Due to Swear words and Dark humor Nonfiltered Nsfw too.

    It's simple. Kids are stupid, click scam links, fall for scams, and you can go on and on. The age restriction exists to protect the kids, not bully them.

    Agreed also if they like about being underage we can use report button and will automatically banned and also moderator will kick them out.

    And also they need made new rule for United States of America north and South only 18+ up can use for safety reason reason. Why? 13 year old shouldn't say bad words because adult reflect back at them and 13 year old say it back doesn't allow in discord for,simple reason I think it's great idea 18+ older can use discord no under 18.
