The new reply feature, and why I don't like it.

I'm not sure what the new feature was supposed to achieve, but so far all it has achieved is confusion. I'd like to give my opinion on why it's not good. Firstly, the order. When we had "quote" feature it was very clear who's message you were reading because the name of the sender came first. Then came the quote and then the message. Now the order has changed and while as we naturally would like to first know who's message it is, the first thing is the quoted message. This causes A) confusion and more time to understand what's happeneing. Distraction from the conversation. B) unnecessary visual dynamics. As in chat is no longer organized. So that's the first mistake. Name should come first for it to be readable. Second problem is the curve that represents the reply. With quote we had | which is aligned with the text and therefore keeps up the balance. The curve on the other hand adds more dynamics. As appealing to an eye as it is, in big chats it's more of a distraction when combined with the disturbed order. So I'd say, it would be better to either just bring quoting back or to completely change reply function. Thanks.

  Agreed, i’d say it’s best to keep both. add quotes back in and adjust replies

  Agreed. It looks terrible and clutters the screen while not even achieving the stated goal of "keeping context" or whatever. It just looks bad and leads to confusion. If they're going to have this reply thing, at the very least keep Quote alongside it.

  Agreed. It is very difficult to read. It's small, it's cluttered, it's all over the place. On the top row you see the quoted person's profile picture and the message in the tiniest letters and then the person who is replying and who is being replied to. Looks like a mess I can't read jack with replies.

  You should try back the old quote in the server that don't have the new one yet, i'm pretty sure you get the mention for the user only after the quote. Unless you were using copy/pasting the text like me, in which case it arrived before indeed, but that function didn't disappear at all then.
