Problem with Discord Staying Open When I Wake my PC from Sleep
Hi guys!
I have a minor issue with Discord. When I close Discord and close my laptop (not fully shutting it down), when I open my computer up again, Discord stays open. Interestingly, what stays open is not discord, or rather it is a frozen discord home screen that I cannot interact with. To get the frozen window to close, I need to go to my apps, open discord, then manually close discord. Alternatively I can use task manager to manually shut discord down.
This isn't anything huge, just a minor annoyance, but how can I keep this from happening? Thanks!

i dont know if you have tried this but you could close discord in the taskbar instead of just closing the window
that should completely kill the application and all sub processesother than that
id suggest you try contacting support
i could be wrong and you might have found a solution feel free to let me know :D

I've been experiencing this exact same issue. Assumed it was just an isolated case of my PC being weird... Interesting that it seems to be affecting other people too.

I've also been experiencing this, it started about a month ago for me. I don't feel like the fix should be to close out of Discord completely before going to sleep.

I have had the same problem too, hopefully, it will be patched soon. Don't bother deleting it and re-installing it, it does nothing. The only thing that works that I have found it fully shutting discord down, but I would just rather have ghost discord appear for the time being.

This happens to me too, for both Slack and Discord. It could be a Windows 10 issue since it started happening after I updated my Windows 10.

The same thing has been happening to me for about a month now. Finally decided to look it up and now I'm here. I can confirm that it isn't an isolated issue because it happened on two consecutive PCs. The first was my old beat-up gaming laptop that was due for a change, so I just ignored it as I worked to finish my new PC. And now it's happening on my new PC as well. Keep in mind, I didn't share files between them or anything, for all intents and purposes, they're two nearly isolated computers that have the same issue. Both were updated versions of Windows 10, so think that has to do with it. Also, I think this has been happening for over a month, but I'll stick to under a month because that's the only period I'm completely sure of. I've had this PC for nearly two weeks now, and it's been on my older laptop for at least two more weeks.

It's not just after sleep or hibernation, it also happens when I unplug my other monitor.

Same with me, after unplugging monitor or updating display skype and discord appear.

Also running into this issue.
It seems like this, or some form of this issue, has been happening for long enough that someone should be able to identify and implement a correct solution.

Yep, I have had the same issue for what seems close to a year.
I have physically unplugged literally everything from my PC (mouse, keyboard, mic, game controller, speakers etc), only keeping power and display port to my monitor so that I can watch what happnd (or more precisely DOESN'T happen) in Discord.
Won't change my status from 'Online'
Then force closed every other program in the system tray, and even went into services and shut down anything that was not crucial for Windows to function.Discord still refuses to change my status from online to away, or move me to AFK.
This also means that even when Discord is minimized to the system tray, my monitor will not turn off - ever.
Force quitting Discord resolves everything - Discord is the ONLY app that's doing this, so I don't think the blame should be placed on Windows. Win 10 has issues for sure, but this is a Discord issue.I've uninstalled and reinstalled Discord, I have even gone as far as to perform a clean installation of Win 10, and put NOTHING OTHER THAN DISCORD on a brand new build, and it still refuses to change my online status. No mic, no speakers, no mouse, no other software.
What in the actual function is going on here?
