PLEASE Bring Back Dark Sidebar On Mobile
I updated all of my phone apps today after a really long time of not doing so, and was shocked to find out that once again the dark sidebar option has been removed from the light theme.
I tried to google it and I see there are even posts that are dated to a year ago that complain about this, so I assume it's been missing for a while but you won't know about it unless you update the app. Sadly I can't find any option on my iPhone to revert the update.
This time at least it seem to only affect mobile and thankfully not the desktop app, but I still really struggle to read the channel names now on mobile. It's not the fact that I think other modes are not pretty enough or anything like that, this is really an accessibility issue at this point, just like it was at the past. As someone who easily gets headaches when reading on the phone (often within minutes), the light sidebar hurts my eyes because you have to try harder to understand the differences between the channel titles, especially on mobile when there are battery saving modes that change the white shades (but even without it), but if I turn everything to dark theme I can barely read anything at all and I get my headaches much quicker reading on dark screens. The old design was honestly perfect and very easy on the eyes. I was very sad when it was originally removed, and I was really happy when Discord decided to listen to the feedback and bring it back. It really gave me faith in the program I was using and the people behind it because I felt like they cared about the accessibility concern some people had.
I really don't understand why make this change again on mobile? This was already tested before and clearly enough people were struggling that they decided to bring back the dark sidebar. Why remove it from mobile again? Does keeping this simple option really take that many resources from Discord that they had to get rid of it? Is a different color on the sidebar really that hard to maintain as an extra option? Does it save them money in any way? Cause otherwise I really don't get why fix something that wasn't broken, and remove an option that has already been programmed and literally only affected the color for the people who needed it.
