I want it, and I'm sure Wumpus wants this too

Locked out of 2nd work account thanks to a sudden SMS requirement, thanks discord! Let us have multiple accounts for different life contexts like literally all the other competitors in the space (Slack, Teams, Google, etc.)

OK, what am I missing here?

The ability to add another account and switch accounts is nowhere to be found in settings (as shown in the screenshots).  I'm assuming they ditched the feature?  I'd appreciate some help. Thank you.

I'm surprised so many people don't know this is a request forum.

5thWall This feature isn't in Discord yet, which is why we're requesting it here.

This feature is really needed for CM's and server testings purposes... :3

I need this. I wish discord actually did this

  • who that is

    This is 200% necessary asap.

I'm on servers for gaming / finance / social communities / work related communities

That's a lot of servers. I don't want the same identity or "global" settings across all of them.
I also don't want multiple tabs/instances of Discord open.

If I could just "quickswitch" identities/contexts like in the OP, or like you can using Google when signed into multiple google accounts, that would make life so much better. Presumably I'd have to pay for Nitro separately for separate identities.

That would be 100% worth it to me and would multiply revenue for Discord.

This seems like a no-brainer. Why isn't this already a feature?

Would like to bump this as I've been asking for a way to switch between accounts seamlessly like on Twitter/Instagram for awhile. Would be useful for people who might want to have different accounts for like IRL vs online etc. Have been upvoting the related threads for the function but nothing yet, please Discord~~!

want this feature added as well, coz our pc at home is often used by multiple people, we wanted just to swap users not logout then login every time we switch...

Are you sure that method can be used for the current discord?

because I don't have an add account in that section

This really needs to be implemented.

I've been using Discord for a couple years for gaming and now my company wants to switch from Skype to Discord.. Seeing this thread shows that a lot of people are in the same boat....

    Please folks!

Would be great if you have two accounts: personal and work.

This is the feature requests forum, not the "look at this cool feature that actually exists" forum. The screenshots that the poster had where photoshopped as a concept idea. That feature does not exist yet. There is no reason that you would see it in your client. Do you consider this "answered" now?

Well they should do it because I can't even verify my current account phone number because it says I already have an account with that number and I can't find any second account that I have.

    Please add this feature.

But it's been a year or what so seems like you don't care.

The new sms requirement kind of made the workarounds for this fall apart... MFA is great and all, but not if it breaks things.

I assume the heartburn of implementing this comes from the potential DB gymnastics needed to accomplish this, but man, it'd be a real nice feature.

Or just turn off the unique phone number check, at least.

Or just turn off the unique phone number check, at least.

That's because they want it to serve as an identifying feature for logins as well.

Would love to have this feature.  Multiple accounts active at the same time would be great, but simple account switching would be enough.

This is a feature that AIM had 20 years ago, it should be considered a standard feature by now.

You were able to do this with basically every messaging app. Its baffling how this has become an unneeded feature somehow over time.

I remember being able to be logged in to an arbitrary number of AIM accounts, MSN accounts, Teamspeak accounts, etc. Why does discord feel like we should be removing useful functionality like this? Until they do people will continue to find workarounds and hacks. At least make it an optional feature or something. As is, this is literally the worst headache with discord, and the main reason I miss the old messaging apps.

considering they are aware of the fact many people started using them for more than just gaming thanks to the pandemic, you would think something like this would be a no-brainer and have been implemented by now. It's not like we're adding a way to circumvent bans or something. You would use an account that you'd already be able to log into, just with fewer steps.

I'm actually struggling to think of a good reason not to add this other than "it's too much work to figure out how to store multiple login tokens as securely as we already store one".
