Downloading discord
every time I try download it it comes up with installation has failed
there was a error while installing the application.
check the setup log for more information and contact the author
has anyone had this problem please help if you know how to fix this.

I FIXED IT! All you need to do is go into task manager and stop discord from running and then delete it from your computer and reinstall it. It worked for me

I have the same problem, I downloaded Discord months ago with ease but I removed it because Discord was lagging for me. Now when I use the same setup.exe it just says "iNsTaLLaTiOn HaS fAiLeD" smh I gonna have to use the browser or get it on phone.

I had the same problem, but I saw Samanta said that they used the steps from this link and it worked. I followed the steps and it worked perfectly.

I am having the ssame issue. I got a notification p the top, so I deleted discord and now I can't reinstall it. That is the error message I got:

If you delete those files and terminate the programs, then discord will download just fine.

I'm also having this problem, it really sucks. I have to use discord on a browser on my laptop :/ if there is any way of personally contacting discord or finding someone who fixed this problem, please let me know!

I tried all of the suggestions put out here and none of them worked for me,

Discord wouldn't open so I deleted it now I cant reinstall because "Squirrel Updater" is having issues.

Hey everyone I had the same problems too, but I found out how to fix it. (saw some other comments that figured out how to fix it too)
1. download "Revo Uninstaller" the free version.
2. after downloading, go to the search bar and search discord. ( click anything that has discord ) then delete it ( make sure to select all ) check the windows app section too, to make sure anything discord is deleted.
3. But that's not all, next go to the search bar in your task bar and search "run" and there should be a run app
4. once you pull up the run app, search %appdata% if not already searched (click ok)
5. One you clicked ok, delete any folders of discord or anything discord related.
6. while you are, there go to " downloads' section in left (has an arrow pointing down) and click on it (scroll through and make sure anything discord related is deleted)
7. Now go to the recycle bin on your computer and completely delete those files.
8. once all that is completed, restart you computer and go download discord again.

I had this annoying problem for months now and this is how I fixed it!
You have to have discord app deleted!
1. If you have Windows search: Task Manager2. You want to check if discord is displayed from the Processes tab and press End Task from the Apps category
3. Then you scroll down from the Background processes and press End Task for each name: Discord
4. Finally download discord normally and ENJOY!!!!
