100 is incredibly low. Bottom line. You can't even pay to join more groups.
I would GLADLY upgrade to Nitro if it meant the cap would be raised. Secondlife does this same thing.
As a student game dev and artist, I am in a lot of servers relating to the subjects of art resources, 3D modeling, 2D/3D animation, Maya, Unity, Blender, etc etc. I'm in about 28 groups that relate to this, being either resources or dedicated servers for my school and specific classes.
I also play games, games usually have their own discord. I like to join the discord for these games as it's easier to keep up with updates and the community. Some of the games I play are multiplayer and have dedicated servers that have their own dedicated discord. These servers usually prefer that you join your discord as it makes it easier for players to communicate. This is another big chunk, 32 servers.
So we're already more than halfway to 100...
Digital conventions and meets are now a thing, these events usually have their own dedicated discord as well.
The rest are small chats for friends and for other creators I follow, because you know, about everyone has their own dedicated discord server.
It's so frustrating to have this cap enabled. I am just surprised you can't even pay to have more groups. I'm in over 300 group chats on telegram. At some point I might just make a secondary discord account so I can spread out. I am running out of servers that I feel comfortable leaving.
