2 colors per role for each theme
There's people out there who have extreme trouble reading light on light or dark on dark. So what if you could give 2 colors to each role, where one color would be displayed depending on if you used dark or light mode? For example, you could set a role to have dark and light blue as its color. So if you used light mode, you would see the role as dark blue, while if you used dark mode, you would see it as light blue.

We need this: nobody designs for light theme on discord and it often ends up being quite hard to read as not enough contrast is given

This is needed. With a variety of colored roles consisting nearly all possible colors, it's close to impossible to have them be distinct on both light and dark AND accessible to people with vision issues.

This should definitely be added, since currently there is no single color that can reach the WCAG AA contrast level for small text (which is the text size for names in the chat window) of 4.5:1 for both themes (https://research.blaseball-reference.com/Improving_Accessibility__Contrast_in_Discord_Team_Roles_1.2.pdf, "Unfortunately, matching such a color contrast on both Light Mode and Dark Mode simultaneously is physically impossible."), let alone the AAA contrast of 7:1. This means that role colors either need to find some middle-ground which then won't reach the required contrast level on either theme, or needs to be optimized for a certain theme, which means that the contrast on the other theme is very bad. Given dark theme's popularity (https://blog.discord.com/light-theme-redeemed-c541b7ab13e9, "the percentage of Discord users on light theme is in the single digits — and not even the higher ones") many people will optimize their role colors for dark theme, leaving behind people who use light theme. As it currently stands, people with sight issues using light theme will have difficulty reading user's names with a role color that is not optimized for light mode (and if that's the case, the majority of users that use dark theme will have trouble reading these names).
Allowing people to specify two colors for each theme would mean we can optimize colors for all users, reaching the WCAG AA and AAA contrast guidelines of 4.5:1 and 7:1 for everyone.0 -
Why isn't this implemented yet?
It's a common complaint on many discord I'm on...0
