As a moderator of a large server I hate seeing unpingable names/nicknames (ie fancy font or characters) it makes it really difficult to find them in a list of server members I would love to be able to find members by their #xxxx tag so i can ban/kick them if i want or so i can actually ping them for a warning

    The only solution I know of to this issue is to change their nickname in the server. As a moderator if you have the permissions to set peoples nicknames, then I'd simply change it to something readable if they refused to change it in server. There's no need for them to actually change their username, since you can set a nickname on a server by server basis.

    Yes i know this. But that is a little hard if they haven't posted messages yet ( i wrote this post after dealing with a steam report account scammer. Idk if you are familiar with the scam)

    I agree. These types of names are annoying. My advice is to scroll down the servers member list and look for their name. When you find it change it to something legible. Create a specific role with the "change nickname" permission denied and apply it to them.

    Also yes, I am familiar with the scam as well as several others. Typically they target people who have steam accounts linked to their discord. Which is why I've unlinked mine.
