The Response is Clear - NFT
It's been proven time and time again that the general public does not support crypto, and NFTs have been some of the most unstable of the batch.
I don't need to sit here and tell you about the environmental impacts, I'm sure numerous comments have done so. And I say this hoping that you truly didn't know, or didn't think about it. We tend not to think about a lot of things. I want to believe that Discord wouldn't do this on purpose, I know that's a little optimistic.
I know there are cryptos in here, saying the environmental impact isn't important, or that it will go away. It won't. Even if you release 0 carbon into the atmosphere doing this, it still takes energy. And that energy is massive.
People want to support you. Nitro isn't something I feel many people need to enjoy discord. But they buy it anyway, to have more fun, to make better servers, to build little homes with their friends.
I implore you not to wreck the good faith put in you, because at the end of the day, it won't affect a single one of these crypto bros if you don't integrate it. But it will poison your reputation, and it will poison how much people are willing to support you.
Crypto is not the way forwards, and certainly not for a communication service that has no need for any monetary integration whatsoever. There is no future in which a crypto based messaging service beats out Discord. Don't alienate the people that support you for a future that will never come.
I won't deny that crypto is big right now. But I will put forth that it will not be big forever, because it cannot sustain itself. The market was big because it was ungoverned, and that is coming to a quick and abrupt end.
Please make the right decision, and stand by the people that have stood by you.

I'm just frustrated by yet another act of what seems to be contempt for Discord's users in favor of getting more money. All I want to know is what happened.
