luckily the option to turn it back off was easy to find! Since the only thing sticking out to me was the sound, I didn't think of looking for it under Appearance. Still confused about why it would be activated by default, almost scared me into next week

This is an accessibility issue for autistic people (such as myself) who get incredibly overstimulated and disturbed by routine changes aswell as triggering for multiple people with the association with christmas sounds which YES i dont care if they dont make it red and green and not say its christmas these sounds are DEEPLY associated with that holiday and can be auditory triggers for those who have been traumatized by the holiday. plus lets not force one group of people's holiday on EVERY member of discord there are dozens of holidays celebrated in december and using sleigh bells isnt as non denominational as you think.

it would be great if this was disabled by default! for one i didn't see any update or anything so i was extremely confused, for another i also only heard the noises so i didn't think to look for it in appearance(??), and for another i don't celebrate christmas. i dont know why it was such an idea to do it for Everyone because it's Santa Month, but i think it might be because apparently Santa Month means Everyone Has To Know About Santa No Matter What. i kind of feel like this is similar to when light theme got removed in 2019. the Santa Month notifs had the same amount of warning beforehand (none), and had the same amount of concern for people who dont want vital things of discord changed (none).

The only problem with this thread is that I can't upvote it a billion times.
