University Students Unable to Join Server Due to Same IP Address
I run a server for students at a university in the United States. However, we have recently run into an issue regarding bans. I banned a user who was causing issues on the server, and since then, people who live in the same dorm floor as him (and I am assuming are using the same router as him) cannot join the server. This is an issue as first-year students are required to live in dorms. I worry that this is an issue for other school-related discord servers too. Is there a way to disable an IP ban when a user gets banned from the server? I already require the highest verification level (must have a verified phone on their Discord account), so I am not too worried about banned users using a different account to get back on the server. Even if they do find a way to get on, I have a staff team who can ban as needed.
In short, my suggestion is to allow server owners to change the way bans are issued on the server. I would like to be able to opt-out of IP banning a user so other users who may share their same IP address may still join and participate in conversation.

I definitely agree that this is an issue that needs fixing, especially considering that Discord has school hubs now. How are servers supposed to moderate their users if they can't even issue bans?

I agree, I run a minecraft server behind a VPN, and if I issued any IP-Bans, then nobody would be able to join because it would only ban the proxy, which is a similar situation as this is. I ban via UUID, and Discord should have that option as well.

Even ignoring dorms, I could see someone logging in while they're in a classroom building and they get banned then, also banning everyone else who was logged in in that building
