Account locked out after 5 years.
I've been using discord since late 2016. I recently tried to verify a friend's accounts account, not knowing it would disable my account and terminate his. There is NO prior warning to this, not when verifying your phone number, not when viewing your settings, and you'll only be told when it's too late.
All I have been told is that my phone number is on timeout, and no other information pertaining to my situation is given. It's ridiculous really. I can't even do anything with my server now. I searched it up on the forums, and it appears HUNDREDS of other users have the same issue. I can see that the whole phone verification thing is used to thwart ban evasion, but when it becomes apparently impacting normal users experiences, it should be given attention.

well if the whole phone verification is used to thwart ban evasion, then one phone number should only be able to be used per account. this is absolute nonsense and i am in the same situation yet i did this to myself by logging into a new account on my phone while i was out and about.
the fact that it did that and with out any warning discord seemlessly stripped my main discord account that runs my server of the phone number i originally backed it up to, 2fa and everything, is absolutely insane.
not only that but they also disabled the account the screw up happened on so now I cant even remove the number from it. This hurts my buisness and all kinds of things right now. absolute joke.
looks like im calling my bank to cancle my nitro payments because i cant even log in anymore for god knows how long and discord cant even respond to my support complaint.

Discord should seriously consider putting warnings somewhere, so others don't have to experience this.

yes this is absolutely insane. i have broken zero rules, and pay them monthly for nitro with the same card thats attatched to my number, my google auth, 2fa, real identity EVERYTHING for discord.
the most i got back was an automated response and them asking me to send a screen shot of the error message when i put my phone number everything they have asked and now i am going on day 3 0 response.
this has effected my buisness in a seriously negative way and its extremly toxic how discord is just not handling this issue at all.
i will be calling my bank back and charging the last several years of my discord purchases back if no one gets to this by the end of tomorrow.

Good idea. Hit discord where its going to hurt them the most. lately they dont seem to care one iota about their platform users anymore.
