Group Chat Audit Logs
Why Should There be a Group Chat Audit Log?
I believe that a group chat audit log would be a great way to keep track of things going on within the group chat. even though most of the things that have been listed to add to an audit log can already be viewed, I think the audit log would be a easier and well organized way to see all the information quicker. for example, someone may say "when did the call start?" I could easily then check the audit log and see when and who started the call, rather than scrolling up in the chat to find when it started. another example, someone may say "oh, who unpinned that message I pinned last night" as you know that is currently not visible and anyone in the group chat can remove pins at anytime without any of the other members knowing. with the group chat audit log I could go in and see who unpinned the message and when exactly it was unpinned. I also believe that group chat audit logs should be visible to every member in the group chat.
Thing to Include in Group Chat Audit Logs
- starting calls ( "{user} started a call on {date} {time}" )
- ending calls ( "call ended on {date} {time}" )
- adding members ( "{user} added {user} on {date} {time}" )
- removing members ( "group owner has removed {user} on {date} {time}" )
- member left ( "{user} left the group chat on {date} {time}" )
- adding pins ( "{user} pinned a message {link to pin} on {date} {time}" )
- removing pins ( "{user} removed the pin {link to pin} on {date} {time}" )
- changing group icon ( "{user} changed the group icon on {date} {time}" )
- changing group name ( "{user} changed the group name to {new group name} on {date} {time}" )
-ownership changed ( "ownership has been transferred to {user} on {date} {time}" )
