Discord account was hacked, hacker changed the password and enabled 2FA
As the title says, my friend's account was compromised and the person who did it immediately changed the password and enabled 2FA. At present, my friend has no way of accessing the account or reverting the changes. He still has access to the account linked email. A support ticket has been submitted but no response yet.
After googling for a bit, it's apparent that Discord's policy is that 2FA cannot be removed by them and they can't send you back-up codes. Would it be possible to make an exception for this rule since 2FA was turned on by an unauthorized malicious third party? Has anyone at all succeeded in retrieving their account through Discord support after being locked out from 2FA?

the 2-fa is absolutely a joke. I simply forgot my password and lost the device I used to create the original code. Even though its my account, support won't do anything to give me back my account no matter how much proof I offer them them that its my account and it wasnt hacked yet they won't lift a finger to help. They should be ashamed of themselves, but they arnt cuz no one cares about the customer base.

Update: It took a little under a week but support actually removed the 2FA and my friend actually got his account back.

Same this is 3 day support are not responding and do nothing to my account
Hacker are enable 2Fa in my account after hacking me. I try many time and
I paid random hacker in twitter for 50$ and they ran away without help i crying right now
My hacked account are purchased a nitro with my debit card and my debit are empty now no money in my debit now

I just got hacked and the hacker created a 2AF on my account.... CRAZY to me how for years discord have been awear of this being a problem yet they still don't do enough to fix it. How can you set up the 2AF without going through security checks of the account-linked email / phone number first. Com'on discord! So frustrating.

asami, can you tell me what exactly you had to do to get your 2fa code removed? how did all process looked like? sorry, but i've had the same problem since yesterday, still waiting for support's answer obwiously and i'm so stressed that i won't get my account back..

It was my friend's account so I don't know the specifics but afaik he just contacted them about the account being hacked and explained the situation with the 2FA. Support works pretty slowly so don't despair even if you don't get a response right away.

This happened to me yesterday and I got my account back. I simply sent a report to discord support explaining what happened and they disabled 2fa on my account so I could reset the password. It was resolved within 2 days for anyone experiencing this issue.

This exact thing just happened to my spouse's account, and we just sent a report to support. I really hope Discord sees it and responds quickly. I'm a little shocked that Discord doesn't have a better system for this — or at least an email response for when your account is changed, prompting you to contact them immediately if it wasn't you, which is pretty common. I really hope we hear back soon.
Edit: Just for anyone else having this issue—We heard back from Discord support in about 24 hours and were able to get the account back, so we had good luck with the support team. I hope everyone else can get their account issues resolved.

Hey I'm in the same boat I got hacked trying to install we mod and got it from the wrong place and had my discord stolen and then the password changed and two factor enabled and for some reason, discord keeps saying they can't do anything about it

MercilessOce That is horrible, I hope you can keep trying more support tickets and maybe someone at Discord can help you. They should not just ignore you, that's terrible. I really expected more from them.

yesterday something like this happened to me but I wanted to eliminate a2f I did it the ap of my android and pc closed now I can not enter and send a thousand times ticket and all do not give solutions but record that I work with discord if I make another account I do not have rank nothing can't work-2 -
Update: They recovered my account, it took around 4 days but I finally got it back. Thanks discord support, I appreciate it.

This same thing happened to me after using the new Account Switching feature and Discord won't give me back my account, it remains locked because of 2FA and they won't remove it.
They told me they have to delete the account and recreate it. I do not not recommend using their 2FA system.

my account recently got logged into as i was tricked by a scammer on karuta (a card game) and they enabled 2fa on the account and then created an account using my email and changed the password and enabled 2fa on that one as well been a week since i submitted a request to discord support and still no real response apart from those bot emails i dont think im getting my account back by Christmas or maybe even at all and they took alot of tickets and alot of cards from me dont have anything to do apart from look at other peoples posts with the same problem :( i looked at the first ticket i submitted and it says 'solved' when i havent gotten any help whatsoever

same thing happened to me some guy hacked into my friends account and the hacker on my friends account was telling me to try some game he was making so i pressed the link to the game and then downloaded a file and i was instantly logged out of my account. i still have access to my email but the guy who went into my account enabled 2fa and changed the password, therefore locking me out of my account. i've had this account since jan 2016 and i have alot of old messages and alot of online and irl friends on there and im hoping discord support will help me really soon

same thing happened to me just now enabled 2fa and changed my password currently waiting on discord for a reply they should really have like a phone number or something to get in contact with sooner than later

Me as well. I'm still trying to deliberate this but Support keeps marking all my tickets as "solved".
Edit: I placed a ticket that was responded to by another support team member and they forwarded it to Trust and Safety. Wish me luck.

Same thing here. It's funny because in all their automated responses, they'll mention how you should have 2FA and SMS authentication enabled in the first place to prevent said hacks. It does absolutely nothing, evidently more harm than good since it seems that it's keeping more users locked out than keeping hackers out. Such a useless system paired with arguably the worst customer service platform I've seen. They aren't even willing to speak with you directly. Every response is automated and/or prewritten. Sad that a company with such progressive and accepting culture couldn't care less about its customers.

same issues here, trying to resolve it , but i have 2fa and backup codes that are both rendered useless.
i thought i was helping a long time friend with something, apparently he had gotten hacked and failed to inform me.

i have been hacked yesterday , i got an email says new login i couldnt even stop him and then an email says password changed , and i tried login but didnt work so i reset but in the way , the hacker setup an 2fa and a backup code , and only he have it , and i did a ticket waiting for someone to help , but as u know discord support slow , i got a mail saying that they signed out all devices , still he can login not me, and i made other one because that ticket was closed and now waiting for someone to help

Unknownnames69 I have been hacked testerday too by a guy named “privvx”. He put 2FA on my account and I can't connect back. I have sen't a ticket to Discord and they are investigating, even if I'm still waiting, you should do that to.
