It is not your business to tell us what we can talk about
The new guidelines promote censoring and controlling 'misinformation', essentially halting the free expression of ideas, even going as far to say that these ideas can cause societal harm.
When a bad idea is put into place, say something that is actually racist or harmful, censoring the idea might stop it (most often not, however), but allowing the idea can allow others to correct it or even laugh at it's the stupidity. We don't need you to be our parents, telling us what we can and can't listen to and talk about. All the necessary tools are there for anyone who doesn't want to talk about controversial topics, discord servers can choose for themselves what 'misinformation' is, and whether or not they even want to discuss politics in the first place. Word's do not harm people, and even if you disagree, the tools are already there to cease communication if so is needed. Threats of physical violence, leaking personal information, those sorts of things may be moderated. But not the discussion of ideas.
Gender identity, transgenderism, politics, racism, abortion, all of these are ideas that are very controversial in the modern day. Conspiracy theories, Vaccines, Science, and I could bring up how people who are educated can make their own mind based on the better evidence. But that doesn't even matter, because it shouldn't concern you in the first place.
You are a communication platform Discord, not a fact-checker.
I know of alternatives to this platform, and if I don't see change from these stupid guidelines, or worse even see them being enforced, I will leave. Problems don't get solved from censoring the discussion of them.

Agreed! We need a platform that will stand against government overreach and tyranny, not jump on the bandwagon. The people are waking up and rising up, and it's only a matter of time before the Lord has removed all evil from power. If your company chooses the wrong side, it will be slitting its own throat.

Agreed as well. This is unadulterated nanny style censorship and makes me extremely uncomfortable continuing to use Discord. The "if you don't like it, quit using Discord" statement also sounds arrogant and careless about the opinions of people who are PAYING CUSTOMERS. Case in point, since Discord doesn't seem to want to vet this change with the community, I already have canceled my 4-year-old Nitro subscription.
