Unicodes & Moderation
From a moderation standpoint (especially as someone who moderates a relatively large server) - we've had HUGE issues with the use of unicodes. Our biggest issues are with the "Khmer Vowel Inherent Aa" - which is essentially invisible on discord PC (You can see on discord mobile), along with issues with Cyrillic script characters (Look like Russian characters) which are used to basically be identical to their English/qwerty counterpart but entirely break the username search feature.
Examples below, left is qwerty characters and right is the cyrillic script ones:
a = а / A = А / e = е / o = о / c = с / x = х / X = Х / k = к / y = у / b = ь / B = В / p = р / P = Р / H = Н / C = С / T = Т
An example of why this is an issue could be my username for example, my tag is "charl#0000", using the unicode, it could be "сharl#0000" - if i was to search this through the servers member lists, the account would not come up as its actual search would be "xn--harl-kd6/" (You can find this by pasting the unicoded name into google search).
There is now the addition of people using some of the khmer unicodes (as mentions above, the Khmer Vowel Inherent Aa) - these are completely invisible on discord PC (App at least), but may be slightly more visible on mobile.
My main issue with this is the fact people are consistently impersonating our staff & developers, and with the use of the nitro tag changing, are able to make accounts which look somewhat identical to them, with this becoming increasingly more of an issue and now becoming harder to moderate - it has resulted in many of our members accounts being compromised or digital goods/information being stolen.
This has likely been suggested / fed back before but there definitely needs to be some limitations put in place or more support when it comes to searching for these characters on the member list (or even a way to make them more identifiable), an example I can think of (given not the best) would be adding a way to search for these characters quickly.
I apologise if there are already other topics on this, I have been unable to find them.
