The new message unread button

In the channels menu, the new bar showing that there are unread messages up or down in the channels list is now way too small, and black on a dark grey background. It's now much harder to both see and use.

  Yes please! the new icon for a mention is also much more difficult to see (small arrow vs small dot), and the shade of red that small dot is, is incredibly hard to see for people who are colourblind. An option to return to the old button, which was far easier to see and more friendly towards the visually impaired, would be really useful.
