New UI is unusable, awkward and clustered
I recently had to update discord due to it was no longer working and now it's new appearance is very hard to use, it's too compact and no matter how I adjust the font size it is still hard to read things and it is very difficult for me to use, I'm not sure how to fix it or what to do due to the mobile accessibility settings and appearance settings being limited I've played with the settings for a few hours to try and see if there was anything I missed but I cannot find anything to help with my issue! I refused to update my discord for months to avoid the new update until discord no longer worked.
The notifications get in the way and I cannot change them to look like the old ones in app, the messages don't appear as read until I scroll even if it's just one and it's on the screen, its awkward and over complicated and it makes discord very difficult to use overall which is very upsetting because I have been using discord for years and it's my prefered way of contact.
It's very hard to use especially with being disabled.

Yeah, it's been like this since May so it seems they still haven't fixed it. I'd suggest going back to discord v 126.11, it's the one I use and I believe it's the version just before the UI was changed, I've been using it since May and everything seems fine still.
It's genuinely the worst thing they've done and it clearly isn't something we could have adjusted to at some point like the previous minor UI changes. It's entirely unusable now and it was an act of pure laziness on their part because they've synced it with the iOS layout or something like that, and therefore screwed over half the mobile users on discord.

I've had to go back to a version of the mobile app from 2020. The new UI is claustrophobic and there are many animations that aren't disabled with the "reduced animation" setting. It seems like the direction the graphic design is heading will be (and already is) a nightmare for many people, especially folks with disabilities.
