Don't do ChatGPT integration
Recently Discord announced AI integration in a few spaces (https://twitter.com/discord/status/1633862297893601280, dis.gd/ai-on-discord) and I've got several objections to that -- we all know that AI is controversial in and of itself, but even outside of its inherent controversies, there's a few reasons it shouldn't be added:
1) It's a pretty nakedly cynical attempt to chase the next buzzword and catch some venture capital money sloshing around.
Remember when Discord tried NFT integration in 2021? Remember how that went? There wasn't any real reason for Discord to have NFT integration, other than "people are talking about it"? That was last year's example of chasing buzzwords in an attempt to seem innovative even when it wasn't innovation, just chasing hype.
Ed Zitron has a pretty good essay on the subject, see here: https://ez.substack.com/p/disruption-killed-innovation
2) The tech's inherently controversial and, from a Trust and Safety standpoint, unsafe
ChatGPT is trained on all of the internet, including the nasty stuff (racism, antisemitism, queerphobia, the works) -- and it's trivially easy to peel back the surface-level "master prompt" guidance and expose that. See the third paragraph, here: https://www.danmcquillan.org/chatgpt.html
3) Inherent controversy may drive users away
Again harkening back to the NFT controversy, a lot of users made feedback threads, planned boycotts, cancelled their Nitro subscription, etc.
You saw a glimpse of that with the data collection/changes to the privacy policy: https://gizmodo.com/discord-chatgpt-midjourney-ai-privacy-policy-changes-1850219037
And I'm sure users aren't too happy about the extreme computational resources that OpenAI requires

Plus it would also kill some AI bots that some developers probably spent a lot of time on.
