"Edit Scrolling" with Up and Down Keys

so you know how on computers you can press the up key to edit your most recent message? what if you could press it again to go up to your message before that, and then again to the one before that, and so on.

or, a better alternative idea: while editing a message, shift + up/down to move up and down between the message you're editing. i made a mock-up of what this could look like:
