Looking at pictures and going out bugs up

Seems from a more recent update but when I press on an image to loom closer and then go back to the main chat, at first it goes back to how it was before going blank and acting as if it had to pop back off. It is very annoying as it resets everything to the bottom of the chat as well as undoes anything like me going to another channel. This lasts a fully 5-10 seconds which slows everything down. What is happening and is there a way to stop this?
