Mobile UI is horrible. And it keeps getting WORSE.
Discord used to be amazing. Remember when there weren't a ton of options, everything was easy to navigate, and disdiscord was so smooth? Does anyone remember the update after that where everything became clunky, some minor stuff was moved around and the icon got darker in color and was less smoother but it was still working and decent and everyone learned to like it? Well now we're in our major declining era. At first we thought they evolved backwards. But no, that was just the beginning. Now they're at -100. I am massively disappointed wiwith The UI first of all and the entire layout for MOBILE. first of all, everything has 2 or more extra steps. Ever since they made it so you have the main screen with all of your friend conversations, then you have the home, notifications, and servers categories. Everything used to be easy with the servers being in the “swipe right”. Now i have to click a conversation each time i open discord. I uses to open the app and I'd immediately be ready in my friend's DM's. Now each time i swipe left, i get reply. And when i try to use the reply shortcut, it edits my message because reply and edit are both swipe left. And sometimes it'll register as an edit instead of reply. You have to click your friend's PROFILE name at the top of ththe Dms in order to search. And when you search more than once and jump to the messages, it will open multiple dm pages at once so you have to repeatedly back out so it closes the same dms over until it shows the friend's list again. And then you have to reclick the friend's dms in order to continue chatting. As for servers, i always get confused when i can't exit and realize i have to backspace to leave it because it's in its own category now. Settings isn't all so bad as they put the gear in the top right corner but that could throw people off. For calls, i have to repeatedly tap the screen where it shows my friend's profile pic and mine to get the “end call” button or the other options for the call sounds, sensitive, deafen and etc to pop up because it goes invisible if you don't interact with it. As for having someone on speaker, each time i start a call, it's not on speaker by default when it used to be that way. My friend complains that searching for stuff is significantly harder because the search is a massive throwoff as it doesn't show full messages anymore which can make it tough to find something SPECIFIC. The options to specifically search for someone's name is its own little button that you have to tap to add those modifications to accurately find something when it used to suggest when you were typing someone's user. Now for the newer updates, they've been useless small minor updates that attract nobody. And each time i go to add an image, it shows up a mini menu saying “file, apps, camera, photos”. First of all, photos also had the FILES OPTION when you opened gallery or whatever it was. The APPS is useless. There is nothing there. Just blank. It was so much easier when images pulled up and you could just take an image easily from the image area. You go to the plus sign and it shows all images below you could scroll through. Now it's an annoying process. I have to click the plus sign, then press “photos” every time to access images below. They just put it into a more difficult process. TO ANYONE READING THIS, SPREAD THE WORD. TELL FRIENDS, SERVER BUDDIES, ANYONE YOU KNOW WHO USES THE APP TO STOP PURCHASING NITRO. if they have a subscription, tell them to cancel it or to not continue to buy it anymore. Don't let it renew. We can't reward a big platform money when they put it to awful use. They care about what they earn, not about the quality they offer. They keep adding useless updates instead of listening to the community who are obviously unhappy. Let's all come together and realize that we have to work together if anything is going to be changed. They will not change it as long as they are being rewarded and I'm getting sick of them constantly downgrading their app and making it more ridiculous and poor. I really don't want discord to die down. I have so much important stuff on the app and i regret ever having major stuff in there with the way they mistreat it. I am heart broken seeing as how a good app has gone down like a fast food restaurant. It's like food got crappier, but price got higher. This is terrible business and it's the sole reason as to why these restaurants are losing people. If THAT'S NOT BAD ENOUGH, this review page is trash too. Each time i undo a typo, it duplicates a word when i backspace to the word or delete some letters and then hit space or period. (This is an examexamp of the word duplication. You can hardly tell what i said.) And it fuses words when you specifically press a space between two words. Just stop paying for nitro and spread the word. It's a waste to be spending money on an app that only gets worse. It's like paying to be trained for a job so you could make money in that job.
GIVE US AN OPTION TO REVERT BACK TO THE ORIGINAL DISCORD INSTEAD OF FORCING US TO USE THE CURRENT ONE SO THAT EVERYONE CAN USE THE VERSION THEY LIKE. I haven't even been excited about any recent updates because I know it won't be a good one. I am only waiting for a revert or a way to revert at least. Many people would like it so we all have what makes us happy.

The swiping is what really kills me. Let me swipe to the channel and server list please. When i use mobile discord my thumbs are at the bottom of the screen, going up to hit the back button is inefficient and wastes time and drives me crazy. They had something good and fast that i didnt need to think about and now they ruined it. Everything else is annoying but i can handle it. This stupid back button stuff though, might break me.

I didnt read all of that, just skimmed, but my spicy take is that the mobile UI isn't as bad as people make it out to be. The only change for me was literally having to unlearn swiping to bring the server list back (which I would like to have back but is hardly a life or death issue). A lot of people just really hate change, or hate that they have to re-learn the UI. It started out confusing, but I learned it and now its not confusing.
The stuff I do worry about is accessibility issues or the search not working right.

It's less about learning it more about the fact that we shouldn't have to navigate or go through 2 more steps just to message a friend. Sometimes i get caught up in something that makes it take two times longer like something that should've taken like 2 seconds takes like 5 seconds and if the whole app glitches out, it goes 10+seconds. They also ruined the whole images thing when they didn't have to touch it. They have 4 different options for the images. What's the point of the “camera” if the camera is literally IN THE IMAGES SECTION? It's like changing something just to change it. Not make it better or prettier. Discord thinks that they're making things look neater or better, but really, they're making all of it harder. Not only that, tons of people dislike it. And they only respond with something like “we're sorry, we've been trying to make discord better to use” while disregarding the fact that it's not better at all. Obviously if people are hating left and right, it's just trash. It's not pretty. It's very unattractive. And very hard to use. They don't think before placing an update. They just do it with that mindset of “it's going to look better and be better. We definitely made it easier.” And they're keeping what they like and think is good but it's not like they're a majority of their community who have to use the app and be forced to deal with the update. Their people are literally trying to tell them that it's awful. They didn't even give us the option to use the previous version. They just forced the whole lame update upon mobile users. Like forcing someone who hates broccoli to live off of broccoli. A lot of app or game creators and developers lose their sense of mind and their whole brain half after some time. I've seen multiple apps or games that have started good, gotten better, but then out of the blue, they have a whole update in which they think is making a change or fixing stuff but it is not. I've had a game where a class was buffed and then shortly after, they changed other stats which debuffed it back down to a weak state. There was no point in buffing it to begin with. People have to stop touching stuff that never needed to be touched. If you painted art and you liked it and your teacher didn't and decided to “fix it” by painting over it or changing it to her liking, would you learn to accept it? Or would you realize that she's ruining your form of style and creativity because she wants it to follow her's and not yours? I'm not trying to push or force you to change your thoughts or opinions if you have them. I'm giving you all of the detail but from my perspective or thoughts. They wasted their precious time working on a good app, changing it, making people hate it, and they still go at the current UI and nobody's opinions are getting any better. People are forcing themselves to ACCEPT IT because discord creators have no care in the world about it as long as they're getting paid for it. If they really cared, they would have thought, “maybe this update wasn't a good idea. People dislike it and we should consider a VOTE.”
