Account deactivated due to chargebacks from being scammed
So first, to give some background. This past Sunday, I received a DM from a friend with a server invite. The message read that they had created the server and wanted to invite people to join it. Since I myself had done this a lot with my friends, I thought nothing of it. I joined the server, and the entry holding channel stated that to verify, users must join via a website. I click on the website link, which prompts me to sign into my account. I also think nothing of it, since there is something akin to this in another very big public server, the one for Healthygamer’s community. So I sign in with my account information and do the captcha, but it appears to not go through, so I do it again, and it also appears not to, due to the poor cellular signal when I was outside walking around my neighborhood. However, within about 15 minutes, I suddenly received two back-to-back digital receipts emailed to me from Discord for two $9.99 purchases of Nitro. After a moment of confusion I realized that I was scammed, and as I got back home, I reached out to the friend, who had since deleted said message, confirmed that she was hacked and that the message was a scam. I then immediately proceeded to contact my bank to dispute the two charges, replace my credit card which was linked to my account, and change my login information for my account, Gmail, and bank. I also made sure to file a support claim with Discord about the situation, which only received an automated response from Clyde bot.
So, fast forward to today, where when I login to my account, I notice I was signed out. I thought this was a bit weird, but tried signing in, only to be told that my account was deactivated. After looking it up, I checked for a email that I would’ve had to had received, which I did around 5 a.m., while I was still asleep. The rationale given for the deactivation of my account was for chargebacks on purchases I had made. Realizing what happened, I immediately filed for another ticket through Discord Support and made sure to @ them on both Twitter (both their main and support accounts) and on Instagram Threads. As of right now, I still haven’t received any kind of follow-up whatsoever.
Right now, I’m currently kind of sitting in a limbo state of me waiting for any kind of response. I’ve heard that support can be incredibly slow and currently I’m uncertain if there’s anything else I can really do or if I will actually be able to get my account back.
