I love my default one for spaces where I'm clearly myself, but I'm also part of multiple RP servers and it'd be wonderful to be able to change my avatar to fit the character.
We can change our names, but not our avatars... I don't get why we can't have both :(3 -
Has discord done this already, or no? I'm still looking for how to get avatars by servers and I'm always led back to here.

Still baffled as to why this isn't a feature. It really seems like common sense and something literally everyone wants. Also, it can't be that hard to add seeing as server specific username is already a thing. I feel like there's no way the developers aren't aware that people want this so what gives?

I think there's some dark conspiracy going on here. Someone may have paid Discord not to develop this feature. It is the only explanation. Slack or some similar platform could have done it as this could seriously cut into their profits. Just a thought. I have no proof or anything. I guess not knowing much about something brings up conspiracy theories. Like with the ongoing virus.

I really really want this feature. I don't want to have to make like 5 new different accounts just because I want to use a specific avatar for a certain server whilst still being able to keep my old avatar for other servers.

A new service is going to come along with the features we're asking for an replace Discord like it replaced Skype, only a matter of time.

Please! This would be so useful... especially if we're given the option to upload/select a different avatar upon joining a server, too. Some severs are business, some are casual...

Discord I would love you sooo much if you did this I want it sooo bad.
I'd buy nitro for it, I hope it's a free feature but I'd still buy nitro even if free :D

This would be incredibly useful, even more so now that people are using work more in a professional capacity. I would really like to see this done.
Edit: Since it was suggested above I'd add this feature would definitely get me to pay for nitro. Not even a question. I personally think it should be a free feature but if it being financially beneficial is the only way the devs will pay attention to this (more than two year old) request, please do it.

Whyyyyy is this still not a thing?? I tried switching between avatars for my two RPGs, but it's honestly just annoying and we spend the rest of the week chatting, so my teammates are going to see my other photo anyways, so I'm just going to stick with one.
What's the matter, Discord? Why is this request so unattainable? :'(

Come on devs, surely the nearly four thousand upvotes over the last two years indicate that people want this... we can change our handle/nick on a per-server basis, it makes sense to be able to change the avatar too...

I've been using Discord since it came out. And I can 100% agree with this idea. In the past, I've had to make multiple accounts for servers, just so people weren't confused about who I was. I RP a lot, so having people know who I am is essential. I can see it working as such;
You can have a main avatar for your entire Discord account, and then have the ability to set your avatar by server.
When you scroll over your server avatar, it can "flicker" back to your main avatar so people can quickly check who you are. Or they can just click and inspect your profile to see who you are.
Essentially it would work just like nicknames do!

2 years later... There is no answer and no modifications to this request/issue. Just great!

Thraey's idea of having the server-avatar 'flicker' to the main when you hover over it is actually brilliant. I hope something like that can be done.
