NSFW 'Mute' settings
I'm in a server with several NSFW channels. At home and on my phone, I've joined the channels, at work I obviously have not. (So we've already demonstrated that NSFW settings are different for each installation.)
However, there's several other SFW channels on that server too.
The problem I have is that I continuously get the red dot for 'unread messages' for messages in the NSFW channels. I can't make this red dot go away by 'reading' the channel because 1 - I want to actually read it later when I get home, so I don't want to 'mark it read' and miss stuff and 2 - I don't want to mute the channel because it mutes it everywhere, not just on my work computer.
Right now my workaround is to mute the entire server when I'm at work, but it means I miss out on 'red dot' notifications for all the SFW channels in that server.
We've already demonstrated that the NSFW setting for channels is unique for each install location. I'd like to take that one step further, and in the configuration settings for discord, be able to say that this is a 'work' location. This would automatically hide all NSFW channels and mute them as if they don't exist, but only for that install location. Other locations that aren't flagged as 'work' locations would not be affected.
Wouldn't that be a simple and easy solution?

Sorrywhat you want discord to behave differently based on your IP? Just mute the channels it's not a headache. Don't use Discord at work? I don't think discord will EVER adapt to change differently PER GUILD based on YOUR Ip

Sorry, but who said anything about IP? These settings could easily be stored on the computer or device.
To put it more simply, I would like to be able to flag a computer or device as being a work one, and all NSFW content and channels are automatically muted on that computer or device. But only on that computer or device. It wouldn't need to be saved to the cloud at all.

What if you could mute a channel for a set amount of time? It would mean telling it to mute the NSFW channel for 8 hours every morning, but that seems like an easier solution that would work for other people in other instances too.

Frankly that's worse of a workaround than just muting the server every morning. There's several channels, having to do a special kind of mute every time is just too much work. I'm not saying that feature wouldn't be helpful for others, but it doesn't help in this situation.
It's simple. Set an install location as work, and all NSFW content is automatically hidden for that install location, regardless of server settings, etc. (In fact, images that could potentially be NSFW could still be blocked client-side even if the server allows them there. That'd be useful.) Other install locations would have their own settings. Simple, probably easy to implement as well.
A single client-side setting to say 'this is a work location' would be great.2 -
This would be great. A client-side setting to mute and hide NSFW channels would be incredibly useful, since I'm also in servers that have a mix of NSFW and SFW content. I don't want to open NSFW content on accident!
- Muting a channel isn't that great; I use the "hide muted channels" to hide channels I don't care about so it's an awful pain to sort through the channels again in every server to manually re-enable the NSFW channels individually.
- Muting a server isn't a good solution either; I'll miss notifications for conversations in SFW channels that I would like to participate in. This solution also doesn't fix the problem where you might open a NSFW channel on accident.
And, in both of these cases, I will often forget to unmute the content, meaning that by the time I realize this I have days worth of content to catch up on.
This setting would also be useful in other contexts as well, such as if I'm having guests at my residence, if I'm using my discord on my phone in public, etc.

Thanks for the comment, exodrifter. That's exactly what I'm talking about. I'm hoping this will happen someday even if it hasn't scored much popularity.

I really want this feature as well. I have a permanent badge on one of my servers at work because there's a handful of nsfw channels that always accumulate posts overnight so I can't read them until I get home in the evening. This feature is literally the only thing stopping me from being able to have a useful activity badge at work.
