F1 2018 DX12 version overlay not picked up easily

If you could look into why the Discord overlay is hard to get to work in F1 2018 DX12 that would be great.
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\F1 2018\F1_2018_dx12.exe
Tried toggling overlay on/off and checking unchecking F1 2018 in Game activity (it says it is linked to the above .exe) but it frequently does not invoke the overlay with the CTRL & ' shortcut although I have edited and resaved that.
