Show [How to] text formatting - Similar to posting text on Reddit

Currently trying to figure out Discord's formatting and its challenging. I know Discord allows text formatting (IE: > * bold* :Emoji: ) but the UX experience is terrible I'm stuck looking finding where it describes all the formatting techniques. 

I remember thinking how great Reddit's formatting help was easy to use and let anyone use it by showing examples. DISCORD should take note from reddits front end team and give a similar experience.
