Is there a option to get the old overlay back?

I find the new design akward to use and prefer the old design that I am used to, neither have seen any benefits from the new design so far, also I do not require emojis to know what command on a message does.

 

Changing something for the sake of changing something doesnt make it good

  I couldn't agree more, an option to disable for example the quick reactions, the ugly new messages thing where it doesn't show the user's profile picture, the messages appearing lower in the chat and the fact that the messages get highlighted would be nice.
