Struggling Connection in Areas with Poor Signal

I recently had to move to an area with poor signal and I find that Discord really really struggles to stay connected, which is normal but I would really appreciate if it was possible to give discord a stronger ability to connect even if the signal is poor. WhatsApp seems to have a better ability to send and receive messages even when the signal isn't good, so I was wondering if it would be possible to make Discord more like that?
