Divider Lines need to come back
Note: This is a slightly altered version of a request I originally sent in. As was expected, I was directed here. I'm hoping they start taking this seriously. It was altered to better fit with the feedback context.
I don't know what it is with the Discord team and Divider Lines, but they all seem to have something against them. Back in that Reddit post about the messages redesign, while the people who responded acted open about almost everything, they all seemed super hesitant on anything relating to Divider Lines. There's a major contrast between "But feedback we're hearing is that the toolbar menu can be too noisy, get in the way, or makes the app feel bloated, because you don't care to react to literally every single message you read. We hear you, and we're discussing changes internally (no promises on anything yet though!)." and, relating to Divider Lines: "We removed them because we thought they added clutter. When testing the changes on our internal build, it was actually kinda painful for me to go back to the stable release. The new design felt much better when we got used to it. And we heard similar feedback from many people internally, as well as our testers.", you know.
It really does feel like our feedback is just being ignored when it comes to Divider Lines solely because the team doesn't like them. Does that give them justification to ignore the people who need them for accessibility reasons? No, no it doesn't. I apologize for being so harsh there, but it needed to be said. I understand that the team, and probably a decent amount of users, prefer to not have Divider Lines. However, there's another good chunk who do prefer to have them, some of them for accessibility reasons. And since it is an accessibility concern, I don't think adding them back as an accessibility OPTION would ruin anyone's day. If it's an optional thing, then everyone can be happy. Those who don't want Divider Lines can have them disabled. Those who need them, or just want them, can have them enabled. I understand programming isn't an easy task, but surely programming some grey lines between message groups would not be the hardest thing the team has done.
This is the BEST possible time to add them back in. Quarantine is still a thing, so a lot of people are turning to programs like Discord for their social interaction, and it would majorly suck if people literally could not use the program because of the lack of an option. And, to be clear, I'm not trying to say add them in right this second or anything like that. I just want it added to their to do list, since this is a serious issue that should be taken seriously.
