Thread system is a bad idea

[we were being rude because we have been excited for the feature to release, apologies]. Dms are good for a group of people that are together and want to join into a dm. Threads are good for starting a conversation without flooding a channel. for example, i was able to alert my server that threads are a new feature easily, by saying "new feature", Starting a thread, and having a conversation about the new feature inside the thread. it didnt clutter the space, people could join if they were interested, we didnt need to make a new channel etc. i see this being very useful at helping us clean up our server for channels that we keep making to serve a temporary purpose.

to be a bit more clear:
If i know a group of people i want to talk to about a topic, i can DM everyone. If i dont know all the people that might be interested in a topic, for example magic the gathering, VR Updates, an issue we are having with a bot, etc, i can start a thread, and everyone can join that is interested in participating. we can also thread privately for mods to discuss moderation issues on a specific person, then its gone once we are done talking about them. tucked away neatly in a sub-conversation

also, say i had an issue with a certain person, we make a thread on the issue, punish the person, the thread archives, and then we mod a new person. they can go back and see the threads the mods have made, whereas if it had been a DM, there would be no easy accessable record of moderation conversations. I think maybe its not good for your use case, but its more than useful for MANY many other things you havent thought of, or dont need, that lots of other people can use/ do need.
