Getting Notifs about features I don't have access to
Ever since discord started testing the new change identity feature that allows users to have a different avatar in different servers, I've been getting updates, pop ups, and notifs telling me about the future. They all imply or directly tell me that the feature is available to all nitro users. Unfortunately... it's a lie.
I was excited for this feature when I first heard about it. It's perfect for roleplay servers. When it was first implied I had access, I went looking for it. When I couldn't find it, I asked my friends about it. Most of them had access, but when they told me how to use it, it wasn't there for me.
Later I got another notification. This one explicitly told me, as a nitro user, I had access to the feature. I didn't.
I contacted support after much frustration and found out only a select group has access to the feature. The notifications were meant to build up hype for it. I don't know how to explain that lying and being unclear builds up more frustration than hype. In fact, I don't feel excitement when I think about the new feature anymore. I don't want to go look for it when a pop up tells me I have it. The disappointment is exhausting. And it makes it hard to trust discord.
I feel like the wording could have been changed. Like "coming soon: new feature." Then send out a message to those in the test group that they actually have the feature. How hard is that?
Simply put, my request is that discord chooses their wording more carefully and doesn't falsely promote it's new features. I don't think being honest is too much to ask for.
